Audio Quality and Accuracy

Transcripts contain vital content/information and it is important that such content be presented accurately. For example, in the case of an HR interview, the transcript represents the candidate. A decision regarding his selection will be made on the basis of this transcript. Hence, transcription demands a high level of accuracy to avoid a faulty HR decision.

Accuracy depends on a number of factors such as:
  • Amount of background noise
  • Volume level
  • Unique names
  • Terminology usage
  • Knowledge of transcriber

The better the audio quality, the better is the transcript. Over the years, we have acquired knowledge on how to record good quality audio. We take complete responsibility of your transcription work and your audio quality influences our work. Hence, it is crucial that you understand the importance of audio quality for accurate transcripts. Given below are small things that contribute to the accuracy of a transcript in a big way.

Technical Assistance: If a 100% accurate transcript is required; we suggest that you hire a professional sound technician to use multiple microphones and a mixer to produce a broadcast-quality recording. This results in precise transcripts.

Reference material: If your recording contains a lot of technical terms or unique names, consider providing us with all the reference material to enhance the quality of the transcript. This provides the transcriber with relevant background knowledge and increases accuracy of the transcript.

Background noise: When recording, place the recorder or the microphone as close to the speaker as possible. If possible, record in a room without background noise. Often, the audio quality is poor not because the microphone is far away from the speaker but because of background noise. This results in a less accurate transcript.

The more we work with a client, the more familiar we become with names, voices and terminology. And that's why customers use us again and again.
